Yellow Diamonds

Yellow diamonds are among the rarest of the many different types of diamonds, however they are not as expensive as other colors because of consumers’ preferences. Most of the time, yellow is associated with a flaw in coloring of colorless diamonds and hence, many people don’t associate yellow diamonds with beauty. Colorless diamonds are graded from D, colorless, through Z, light yellow. Light yellow diamonds do not sell for very much because of their light tinting. The term “canary diamond” has now been circulated to help alter this incorrect perception. However, the term specifically refers to yellow diamonds with very intense yellow-green or yellow-orange hues. The engagement rings of many Hollywood stars being canary diamonds has also helped to alter the public’s conceptions of yellow diamonds. Although in colorless diamonds, a tinting of yellow depreciates the value, yellow diamonds are considered fancy diamonds and hence, the more saturation of color they include, the more expensive they are. Orange and green are the most desirable secondary colorings for a yellow diamond. Secondary colors can affect the shade of the diamond when viewed from different angles. The color grading for yellow diamonds from lightest to deepest are as such; w-x light yellow diamond, y-z light yellow diamond, fancy light, fancy, fancy intense, and fancy vivid. The Tiffany yellow diamond is the most famous yellow diamond in the world, weighing in at 128.51 carats. As the popularity of rich yellow diamonds grows, it is certain that so will the prices they command.
