Diamond Shapes (Cuts)

Diamond shape is sometimes referred to as diamond cut, which, technically, is a difference subject. However, the terms are often used interchangeably. Diamond shapes are as numerous as and can vary from anything that the consumer’s heart desires. The most popular cuts include round, pear, heart, oval, marquise, emerald, and princess, although asscher, cushion, and radiant are also important cuts to know. The round cut is the most popular shape among consumers, partly because of its history of being studied and mathematically validated. The princess cut diamond second in popularity only to the round diamond. The princess cut is the best way to show off an engagement ring. Consider that princess cut diamonds will show yellow tinting most at their four corners when selecting a diamond and setting it. The emerald cut has pavilions grooved into it which gives the stone an optical illusion touch. The asscher shape is the square version of the emerald cut. The oval shape is perfect for long fingers and can be very elegant. The marquise shape can maximize carat weight and can make fingers look more slender. The pear shaped diamond is also referred to as tear-drop and has been used brilliantly in various beautiful jewelry pieces over the centuries. The radiant shape is distinguishable by its trimmed corners. The cushion shape is also very popular because it optimizes superbly clear diamonds. Lastly, the heart shape is the perfect way to symbolize love in an enduring way. Length to width ratio is important in all the shapes.
